This old world plank floor with its generous width of nearly 6" creates an interior backdrop of stately proportion. Grains of enhanced wood texture are hand selected for the creation of each plank. A special darkening technique is hand brushed to unique mineral grain areas within the plank creating additional depth of tone for the appeal of century aged natural wood floors. Each plank of Chattered Delfino is hand contoured by craftsmen and their wood working tools, unique in its own way. Chattered Delfino, created using the chattered hand-scraping technique, provides exquisite detail. Mild, unevenly carved and chisel chattered edges combine with chisel impression throughout the body of the plank provide graceful texture to the finest decors.
A unique bevel treatment has been added to Chattered Delfino. A true French bleed stain involves darkening the actual bevel edge and slightly working the dark stain outward. This creates a visual of extra thickness and time worn authenticity to the installed floor planks. The contrast in darker bevel color appropriately exemplifies the stately 6" width of the plank.
A genuine hand rubbed translucent surface stain is applied and buffed off providing a time worn stained patina prior to the final protective finish application. Translucent stains allow the real wood grain greater expression. The final touch, a soft low luster clear finish mimics European old world oiled plank floors. An 11-step 8 coat German manufactured Treffic Aluminum Oxide finishing process provides exceptional abrasion resistance and durability. The No-Wax surface provides low maintenance cleaning for everyday life.

Q. What does the handscraping term chattered mean?
A. Chattering is one of the newest types of handscraping methods. Chattering includes gouging at the edges of the planks as well as the unplanned impact marks throughout the body of the plank. This provides the desired authentic vintage worn appearance to the surface of wood flooring.
Q. Why are the edges darker?
A. Chattered Delfino features full french bleed edges. This fashion forward technique involves staining the edges of the plank a deeper color that the wood species itself. The difference between full and partial french bleed becomes apparent once installed. Partial french bleed options apply a darker stain to the top of the plank to draw attention to the edges. Full french bleed involves staining the entire edge and slightly feathering the stain out, rather than just applying a darker stain to the floor surface itself. The original french bleed treatment concept was not intended to be used on the surface of the flooring plank but rather on the 4 plank edges. The full french bleed technique creates texture and adds a more dramatic effect to the fully installed project.
Q. Is this floor prefinished?
A. Yes, this Engineered floor already has a UV cured finish applied to it. No additional finish or waxing is needed.
Q. How realistic is it to lay this floor down myself? I can afford the floor but not the labor.
A. The advantage of Chattered Delfino is its engineered 7 ply construction and wider width. This is a DIY best pick for simple and quick installation. With this particular floor, you can even float it over an existing sub-floor thus saving additional cost of floor prep. It can be nailed down as well, but it is not required. It is the perfect floor for those looking to save some cash and willing to put in a little time to install this themselves. Its pre-finished, vintage hand carved and ready for use. Wood floors are among the longest lasting flooring options. When taking into consideration their service life, wood floors are one of the lowest cost floors over time to own.
Q. Can I install this floor over concrete?
A. Yes, this floor installs below grade, on grade, and above grade, and over wooden or concrete subfloors.
Q. What type of finish does this floor have?
A. The handscraped floors are designed to have a vintage look. The finish on the Chattered Delfino is a lower luster finish giving it the appearance of aged hardwood. An Aluminum Oxide finish is utilized for durability.
Q. I have seen some floors that say they are handscraped but are really done by machine. Is this one done by machine or by hand?
A. Chattered Delfino is an authentic hand scraped floor. It does not utilize machine scraping to achieve the vintage design.
Q. Is this a floating floor? I can only use a floating floor.
A. Yes, Chattered Delfino is a floating floor. Floating floors are installed over an underlayment. Chattered Delfino can also be glued directly down to a subfloor or nailed down to a subfloor.
